West Indies legendary cricketer Brian Lara has come up with a brave advice for Team India as he feels that the opening duo of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli should continue operating for the Men in Blue despite of the partnership not working out as they would have expected in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

Brian Lara Backs Rohit-Virat To Shine In For Team India
Indian star batter Virat Kohli has not been having a good start to the tournament as he has failed to pass the single digit mark with the bat in all 3 group stage matches he has been part of so far. With poor scores of 1, 4 and 0, Virat Kohli is coming under the scanner for his opening spells which are not doing him and his team any good.
Despite of this, Brian Lara feels that the duo should remain untouched at the top and should be given more time for adjusting to their natural rhythm.
“Definitely, India had the option to play a left-right opening partnership. They went with two great players, two guys who’ve done a great job for India with the bat for their individual franchise as well in terms of the captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. I think they’ve got to stick with it as you just said if you do make changes on top, Virat Kohli has to come in the order a little bit lower and that’s going to upset things there,” said Lara on Star Sports.
“I believe that the combination India is having and India has to back the two of them. At some point in time, they’re going to come good with conditions, the batting conditions in the USA were not the very best. I don’t believe you start making changes especially if you’re winning,” he added.
Virat’s opening partner Rohit Sharma on the other hand, has contributed to his side’s totals in the tournament so far. Rohit had scored a half century against Ireland which was followed by low scores for 13 and 3 runs respectively.
