Virat Kohli Fined By BCCI
Virat Kohli Penalized with a 50% Match Fee Following the controversy surrounding Kohli’s no-ball dispute, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took action. Reports suggest that Virat Kohli has been penalized for arguing with the umpire. The BCCI has imposed a 50% match fee penalty on him. Kohli has been deemed guilty of violating the IPL code of conduct.
It is worth mentioning that former Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni faced a similar penalty five years ago. He was found guilty of violating the code of conduct for confronting the umpire. Consequently, he was fined 50% of the match fee. However, Dhoni opted to pay the fine imposed by the IPL.
According to the IPL statement, Kohli has been found guilty of a Level 1 offense under Article 2.8 of the IPL code of conduct. Virat Kohli has admitted to his wrongdoing. He has also accepted the approval of the match referee. The decision of the match referee is final after a Level 1 violation of the code of conduct.
