Former cricketer Vinod Kambli’s health has raised concerns after he was admitted to Aakriti Hospital in Thane on Saturday evening. His condition deteriorated over the weekend, and doctors have expressed concern over his brain health.
Brain Condition Still Unstable
Dr. Vivek Dwivedi, who is currently treating Kambli, mentioned that he was brought to hospital with a high-grade fever. Though the vitals of Kambli are stable now, the doctor said that the condition of his brain is still unstable. The treatment is more focused on his rehabilitation as he is likely to be discharged in the next 2-3 days.
“His brain’s condition is not stable… There are degenerative changes in his brain. So, we are focussing more on rehabilitation,” added the doctor.
What Did The Doctor Say?
“We admitted him on Saturday evening. He was experiencing muscle cramps and dizziness at home… He had a high-grade fever when we brought him to the hospital and difficulty walking due to muscle cramps. On investigation, we found that he had a urine infection, and sodium and potassium deficiency which were causing muscle cramps. A brain scan revealed that he had old clots because he had suffered a stroke recently. We admitted him to the ICU because he also had low BP… His vitals are stable but his treatment and physiotherapy are ongoing. We are planning to discharge him in 2-3 days,” Dr Dwivedi told ANI.

Support From Fans & Medical Team
A fan had taken Kambli to a local hospital in the Kalher area of Bhiwandi, Thane. While his condition remains grim, his vitals do seem to have steadied a bit, providing much-needed hope for him to get back to speed in a hurry.
Recent Public Appearance Raises Concern
Earlier this month, Kambli attended a public function to unveil a memorial of his legendary coach, Ramakant Achrekar, at Shivaji Park. He seemed frail in health at the event, and many former cricketers expressed their concern over his deteriorating health.
Kambli’s History Of Health Struggles
Kambli has been going through several health challenges in recent years. Notably, he underwent two heart surgeries in 2013, with financial assistance from his childhood friend, Sachin Tendulkar. These past medical struggles have added to the concerns regarding his current health.
