Vedic scholars dressed in traditional attire consisting of dhoti-kurtas and adorned with religious symbols on their foreheads are competing on a cricket field in Bhopal. They are participating in an annual tournament focused on advocating Sanskrit. The champions of this tournament, held to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who popularized transcendental meditation in the Western world, will receive the opportunity to visit Ayodhya. The visit coincides with the consecration of the Ram temple scheduled for January 22, as mentioned by one of the event organizers.
The tournament commenced on Friday at Ankur ground in the capital city of Madhya Pradesh, spanning four days. Participants and umpires conversed fluently in Sanskrit throughout the event. Remarkably, even the commentators provided play-by-play commentary in the ancient language, describing hits, misses, and catches on the field.
