Rajasthan Royals batting coach Vikram Rathour showered encomium on young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his calm and matured innings against the Chennai Super Kings in Match 62 of IPL 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Rathour called Suryavanshi an “impressive batter” and said the team management has been working closely with him for the last three to four months.
Even though the RR coaching team was already familiar with Suryavanshi’s talent, Rathour asserted that it was great to witness him implementing his abilities under pressure in a competitive match. The young batsman held his ground against several of the league’s best bowlers, such as Khaleel Ahmed, Noor Ahmad, Anshul Kamboj, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin.
“Extremely impressive. We’ve been working with him for a long time now perhaps three or four months and we’ve already witnessed these attributes in him. But it’s excellent to witness him performing in a pressure moment in an actual game,” Rathour explained in the post-match media conference.

“These Experiences Will Only Make Him Better” – Rathour
The 56-year-old former coach also spoke about the tricky conditions at the start of the second innings, saying there was a bit of movement in the air. He said Suryavanshi did not get much of the strike in the Powerplay overs but continued to exhibit exceptional poise and game sense.
“In a large game like today, when he came in, the ball was not swinging much. He hardly had to deal with any deliveries early on and did not receive much strike in the Powerplay. But the sort of maturity and temperament he showed was terrific. Such experiences will definitely make him an even better cricketer,” Rathour said.
Suryavanshi has made a thunderous IPL debut season. The left-handed batsman has accumulated 252 runs in seven matches at a mean of 36.00 and a scorching strike rate of more than 206. His career highlight is a stunning 101 from a mere 38 deliveries against Gujarat Titans — the quickest Indian century in IPL history.
