The world no.7 secured a hard-fought win over the fourth-seeded American Taylor Fritz on Wednesday, September 3. He couldn’t be there for his daughter’s birthday so he planned a surprise for her after the win. Djokovic looked content with his 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 victory, which lasted three hours and 24 minutes. There was a brief dip in the third set which gave a chance to Fritz to make a comeback but the Serbian quickly regrouped to conclude the match in four sets.
Novak recently spoke about not being able to celebrate his daughter’s birthday at home hence he vowed a quarter-final win which he successfully delivered. Now Djokovic heads into the semi-final where he will be playing against Carlos Alcaraz.
