Jessica Pegula has reached a second US Open semifinal with a dominating straight-set win over Barbora Krejcikova on Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Arthur Ashe Stadium. The fourth seed dominated from the beginning, earning a 6-3, 6-3 victory and posting her streak of not losing a single set in this year’s tournament.
Even after a tentative build-up to the US Open, Pegula has reached top gear in New York with 17 winners in her one-sided victory against unseeded Krejcikova. The Czech player, who had pulled off a remarkable comeback from a string of early-season injuries and had survived eight match points in her four-round thriller against Taylor Townsend, was unable to match Pegula’s grit and consistency in the quarterfinal encounter.
After her victory, Pegula commented that beginning well was in her game plan, as she knew how volatile Krejcikova becomes when having momentum. With this win, she is now tied with Serena Williams as only the second woman to have back-to-back US Open semifinals without dropping a single set.

Then there’s the final, in which Pegula is set to face the winner of match between leading seed and defending champion Aryna Sabalenka and unseeded Czech challenger Marketa Vondrousova. On a confidence high and razor-sharp in form, Pegula will look to secure a spot in her second consecutive final in Flushing Meadows.
