Jannik Sinner lost the US Open 2025 final against Carlos Alcaraz following which he admitted the loophole which was the main reason for his defeat. Despite being the defending champions, Sinner could not keep up with Alcaraz and lost the match in four sets after a two-hour and 42 minutes battle.
“I was very predictable on court today. He changed the game, and that’s part of his style. Now it’s up to me whether I want to make adjustments or not. We’re definitely going to work on that,” Sinner said in the post-match press conference.

“I didn’t attempt a single serve-and-volley, and I didn’t use many drop shots. When you play someone like Carlos, you have to step out of your comfort zone. From now on, I may even lose a few matches while trying to make changes, but the goal is to become more unpredictable. That’s what I need to do—to evolve as a tennis player. At the end of the day, that’s my main objective,” Sinner added.
In the post-match comments, Sinner admitted that he was very predictable and he missed upon a few opportunities due to which Alcaraz’s rhythm was never broken.
With 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 win, Alcaraz ended Sinner’s season with an impressive 27-match unbeaten streak on hard-court Grand Slam. With this dashing win, Alcaraz will now claim the number 1 spot on Monday and he will be returning to the top after September 2023.
