Jannik Sinner’s dominating performance at the 2025 US Open continued with him blasting into the round of 16 with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3 win over Canadian Denis Shapovalov. While Shapovalov was able to break Sinner’s remarkable sequence of hard court sets won dating back to the 2024 US Open, Sinner soon got back on top, demonstrating his usual command and ease of movement as the match progressed.
This win also marked Sinner’s 20th career victory at the US Open which is a new milestone. The 24-year old Italian has 20 wins in each of the four grand slam tournament. He has now become the fourth youngest player to achieve this rare feat and has joined the list of legends like Rafael Nadal, Boris Becker, and Novak Djokovic.
Sinner will now face Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik in the Round 16 of the US Open 2025. Alexander is the only player who has defeated Sinner apart from Carlos Alcaraz since August 2024.
