Gujarat batter Urvil Patel smashed his second century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024 in the time span of just six days. Patel played an unbeaten innings of 115 runs from 41 balls which included eight fours and 11 sixes. The Gujarat opener reached the three-figure mark in just 36 balls which helped his team chase down the target of 186 runs in just 13.2 overs. With the century, Patel became the first batter to slam two hundreds in T20 cricket in less than 40 balls. Before, his unbeaten 115-run knock knock against Uttarakhand, Urvil smashed a 28-run century during his last Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match against Tripura.

Batting first, Uttarakhand put up a massive total of 182/7 wherein Ravikumar Samarth played an innings of 54 runs from 39 balls which included six fours and two sixes. Apart from Samarth, Kunal Chandela played a knock of 43 runs from 27 balls. On the other hand, Aditya Tare played an innings of 54 runs from 26 balls which included two fours and five sixes.

Chasing down the target Gujarat openers Aarya Desai and Urvil Patel added 72 runs for the first wicket. Desai got out for 23 runs whereas Urvil continued his aggressive approach. At the end, Gujarat were able to chase down the target with ease and they will look forward to continue their same approach while going ahead in the tournament. Despite his decent form, Urvil Patel wasn’t able to attract any buyers during the Indian Premier League 2025 mega auction.
