Revised WTC Points Table: India’s disappointing 30-run loss to South Africa in the first Test at the Eden Gardens has triggered a notable shake-up in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025–27 points table. Shubman Gill’s side entered the series in third place after a strong 2-0 win over the West Indies earlier this year, but Sunday’s collapse has pushed them down to fourth.
South Africa Makes A Massive Leap
South Africa, meanwhile, have made a massive jump. Coming off a 1-1 draw against Pakistan, the Proteas rode their impressive Kolkata win straight up to the No. 2 spot. Their points percentage is now 66.67, identical to Sri Lanka but two wins out of three matches puts them ahead on the standings. India, on the other hand, have slipped to a 54.17 PCT%, adding pressure ahead of the must-win second Test.
Australia Continues to Dominate
At the top, Australia continued to dominate the new WTC cycle with three wins in three games, sitting comfortably at No. 1. Pakistan follows India at fifth with a 50% PCT, while England, Bangladesh, and the West Indies make up the next three spots.
New Zealand, the inaugural WTC champions, are yet to begin their 2025–27 journey. Their campaign will finally take off next month when they host the West Indies at home.
