UP T20 League: Piyush Chawla Single-Handedly Rattles Lucknow Falcons

The 35-year old, Piyush Chawla was instrumental in Noida Kings victory over Lucknow Falcons. He single-handedly rattled Lucknow batters by taking 3 for 16 runs in 3 overs.

UP T20 League 2024: The veteran bowler, Piyush Chawla played a pivotal role in Noida’s triumph over Lucknow. In the match, Chawla delivered an exceptional performance, conceding just 16 runs in 3 overs and claiming 3 crucial wickets, which was instrumental in limiting Lucknow to a total of 100 runs. Noida Kings successfully chased down the target of 101 runs, finishing at 106 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in just 12 overs, securing a victory by 5 wickets.

Key contributions in the chase came from Piyush Pandey, who scored 19 runs, Mohammad Sharim with 20 runs off 11 balls, Prashant Veer adding 16 runs from 9 balls, and Bobby Yadav contributing 12 runs from 7 balls. Notably, Noida won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Chawla, who has been with the Mumbai Indians since 2021, has shown remarkable form.

In the 2024 IPL season, he took 13 wickets in 11 matches, and in 2023, he claimed 22 wickets in 16 matches. Over his IPL career, Chawla has amassed 192 wickets in 192 matches. With speculation around whether Mumbai Indians will retain him for IPL 2025, his future remains a topic of interest.

The 35-year-old was part of India’s 2011 ODI World Cup-winning squad but has not featured in the national team since 2012. Despite his absence from international cricket, he has not officially retired.
