UEFA Euro 2024

Hosts Germany will face Spain in the first of two thrilling quarter-final matches at Euro 2024 on Friday, with Kylian Mbappe’s France taking on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal in the later game. The clash between Germany and Spain in Stuttgart is scheduled for 1600 GMT, with the host nation up against arguably the best-performing team in the tournament so far.

Toni Kroos’ Germany vs Rodri’s Spain In Euro 2024 QF

Spain, featuring the exciting wing duo of Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, have progressed to the quarter-finals with a perfect record of four wins, scoring nine goals and conceding just one.

Germany has also shown impressive form en-route to the last eight, highlighted by Jamal Musiala’s attacking prowess and Toni Kroos’ midfield mastery as he approaches retirement after the competition.

This encounter, a rematch of the Euro 2008 final where Spain triumphed 1-0 in Vienna, promises to be a spectacular contest. Given both teams’ current form and historical success—they each have three European Championship titles—the match would have made a fitting final. The teams last met in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup, resulting in a 1-1 draw that contributed to Germany’s early elimination.

Spain boasts arguably the world’s best holding midfielder in Rodri, but their coach, Luis de la Fuente, acknowledges the threat posed by the brilliant Kroos.

Kylian Mbappe’s Reunion With Cristiano Ronaldo

Les Bleus have scored just three goals in four matches, with one being a penalty by Mbappe and the other two resulting from own goals, including Jan Vertonghen’s, which secured their victory over Belgium in the last 16.

Mbappe has been limited by a broken nose, causing him to miss one group game before returning to the field with a protective face mask. On Thursday, he hinted that he is not yet fully fit.

Portugal on the other hand are coming from a hard fought victory against Slovenia where Portuguese goalkeeper Diogo Costa turned out to be the hero in the penalty shootout, saving all three kicks vs Slovenia.
