New Delhi: Mohamed Salah made UEFA Champions League history with a hat-trick in record time in the 7-1 game against Rangers at Ibrox. The Egyptian started on the bench and was introduced with 22 minutes left in which he scored three in six minutes and 12 seconds.
A significant win, in more ways than one. The Reds will see themselves safely into the Champions League knockout stages for the sixth successive season, but what this victory may do for their confidence is equally important. This was the most convincing performance that they have delivered in some time.

Fastest three goals by Mohammad Salah
The first came home from the angle, then stopped the ball to beat two defenders before shooting it into the net, and finally sweeping home a trademark finish from the edge of the box.
All three goals were assisted by Diogo Jota which is the first time that’s happened since 2012.
Salah’s hat-trick time of six minutes and 12 seconds beats the record previously set by Bafetimbi Gomis, who netted three in eight minutes for Lyon against Dinamo Zagreb in the 2011-12 Champions League group stage. Salah also required the fewest touches to get his goals out of any Champions League hat-trick ever scored.
Back in goalscoring form, Salah will be expected to start When the Reds take on Pep Guardiola’s Man City in a Premier League blockbuster on Sunday.
