New Delhi: Indian Women’s U19 team scripted history as they lifted the inaugural U19 Women’s T20 World Cup trophy at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom, South Africa. Shefali Verma led side trashed England Women’s by 7 wickets.

Indian skipper Verma decided to bowl first after winning the toss. India bowled out England team for 68 runs in 17.1 overs.

For India, Archana Devi, Parshvi Chopra and Titas Sadhu shared 2 wickets each. Mannat Kashyap and captain Shefali Verma also tried their hand on bowling and scalped one wickets each.

For England, Rayna McDonald-Gay scored the highest 19 and Alex Stonehouse scored 11 runs.

Team India came out to chase the target and won the match with 7 wickets remaining. In this way, the girls of Team India increased the pride of India by winning the first World Cup of the year.

India dominated throughout the tournament

Indian Under-19 team has been in excellent form in the entire tournament. The captain of the team, Shefali Verma has created a ruckus with the bat. While, Parshvi Chopra was amazing with the ball. In the first semi-final, India put up an impressive eight-wicket win against New Zealand and booked their place in the final. Player of the match leg spinner Parshvi took 3 wickets for India. Shweta Sehrawat also scored a half-century in that match.
