Trouble For Team India Ahead Of Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy! THESE Fearsome Pacers Make Return For England

Mark Wood and Jofra Archer eye comebacks during England’s Test series against India, boosting hopes for later matches.

As England gear up for their highly anticipated five-match Test series against India from June to August 2025, there’s growing optimism surrounding the potential return of two of their premier fast bowlers- Mark Wood and Jofra Archer.

According to Sky Sports, Mark Wood could feature in either the fourth or fifth Test as he continues to recover from a knee injury sustained during England’s ICC Champions Trophy 2025 group-stage defeat to Afghanistan in Lahore back in March. The seamer experienced “increased stiffness and discomfort” following the game, which has kept him sidelined since.

However, there are positive signs in his rehabilitation. Luke Wright, England’s national selector, provided an encouraging update:

“I think Woody’s now started bowling just lightly, to be honest. He’s just off a few paces, but that’s been a great sign. So, he’s on the road to recovery. If we can get him back, he might have an option for the fourth or fifth Test.”

While stressing that day-by-day progress is crucial, Wright emphasized that Wood is “trucking on well” and remains a potential late addition to the squad.

Archer Eyes Return for Second Test

Meanwhile, Jofra Archer, who missed England’s recent 3-0 ODI series win over the West Indies due to a thumb injury, is also on the comeback trail. The pacer is targeting a return in England’s second Test against India, scheduled to begin on July 2.

Wright shared that Archer is currently gaining match fitness through second-team games for Sussex, with plans for him to feature in the County Championship match against Durham starting June 23, during the same week as the first Test.

“Joff’s trucking on really well, actually. He’s loading up with the second team for Sussex. If he gets through that Durham game, he should be available for selection for the second Test.”

Despite the cautious optimism, England’s selectors remain mindful of both players’ injury histories. The emphasis remains on gradual progression and avoiding setbacks.
