The Indian selectors have unveiled the T20 squad for the upcoming Sri Lanka tour, with Suryakumar Yadav appointed as captain and Shubman Gill named vice-captain for both formats. Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the ODI side. This announcement marks a significant move as Gill is groomed for future leadership roles.
The 15-member T20 team features several top players capable of turning matches in an instant. However, the exclusion of three standout players from the recent T20 series against Zimbabwe has sparked surprise and speculation.

Abhishek Sharma, who impressed with 124 runs in 4 innings, including a century in the second T20 against Zimbabwe, has been overlooked. Despite his strong debut performance, he will not join the team for the Sri Lanka tour.
Ruturaj Gaikwad also missed out, despite his crucial contributions during the Zimbabwe series. Gaikwad scored 133 runs across 4 matches, including one half-century, yet was not selected for the upcoming tour.
Mukesh Kumar, who excelled with the ball, taking 8 wickets in 3 matches against Zimbabwe, was similarly excluded from the squad.
