The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season is scheduled to take place from March to May this year. This marks the first time that the player auction is being held overseas at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. The auction saw several records being broken, with Mitchell Starc emerging as the most expensive player in the history of IPL. Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) acquired him for a significant sum of Rs 24.75 crore.

During the auction, Australia’s World Cup-winning skipper, Pat Cummins, briefly held the record of the most expensive player after Sunrisers Hyderabad paid Rs 20.5 crore for his services. This surpassed the previous record held by England all-rounder Sam Curran.
A total of 333 cricketers were up for grabs in the IPL 2024 Player Auction. The auction featured 116 capped players, 215 uncapped players, and 2 players from associate nations. Out of the available 77 slots, up to 30 are reserved for overseas players.
