At the age of 29, she shocked everyone in the world of tennis not only with her comeback, but also with her willingness to share choices she had made during her time away from tennis.
In late 2024, Dodin was forced to withdraw from professional tennis play because of a severe issue with her inner ear. This made her withdraw from play for a considerable number of months, which caused her ranking in the WTA Singles ranking to drop to 744.
This period remained quiet, and Dodin decided to do something that had been in her wishes list for a long time. The steps involved undergoing breast improvement surgery at a time when she was in the middle of her tennis career. On her return to professional tennis in September at an ITF event, fans realized that the French tennis player had undergone a transformation.
In a candid interview with Dodin in France, she told why she opted for a sex change and explained:
“I had to wait several months for a place available for sex reassignment surgery anyway, and what could be better than the time to do what I wanted?”
“And when you think about it, it is better to choose now rather than later on in life,” she added.
Her candor brought her into the limelight quickly. Dodin was the first active player who confessed that she opted for cosmetic surgery during her playing career. However, the response was divided. While some players appreciated her audacity and frankness, others doubted the timing of her choice. Nevertheless, the discourse about her did not stop there.
But now, three months down the line, Dodin has made yet another bold move. She will now be a part of ‘Only Fans’, an online membership platform. Though the platform can easily be tagged as a ‘pay to view adult entertainment website’, there’s much more to these sites and platforms than meets the eye. They also operate as membership platforms where athletes and models with a very public lifestyle share their exclusive material with their fans.
In contemporary years, several sports-related individuals have resorted to OnlyFans to generate money through extra sources not involving sponsorship and cash prizes. This seems to be a means for Dodin to earn money while putting her life in the public domain and maintaining control of her income sources.
