The record broke at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart, Australia on 18 November 2024 in the 3rd T20I. However, the kangaroos managed to get a comfortable win against the Pakistanis by 7 wickets and 52 balls remaining and clinching the T20 series by 3-0 and whitewashing Pakistan but Babar Azam gave his nation something to be a little joyous about. He scored 41 runs from in 28 balls with a strike rate of 146.42 becoming the second-highest run-scorer in T20 internationals taking his score at 4192 in 41 innings, surpassing Virat Kohli and reserving the second spot on the podium for himself.

While the Indians will be occupied with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy till 7 January 2025, Zimbabwe will host the Pakistani cricket team for a 3-match ODI and 3-match T20 series. The first T20 will be played on 1 December and Babar Azam is most likely to get that top spot for himself.
