South African star batsman David Miller made history on Sunday. Playing for Paarl Royals in the South African T20 League, the batsman completed 11,000 runs in T20 cricket. Miller became the first South African batsman to achieve this milestone. Paarl Royals secured their third win in their fourth league match on Saturday, thanks to Joe Root’s unbeaten 92 runs and Miller’s quick 48 runs off 24 balls. Royals completed the biggest run chase in the league’s history, where they had no major difficulty in achieving the target of 212 runs set by Pretoria Capitals.

Paarl Royals had a poor start when they lost Luan-du Pretorius on the very first ball. However, debutant Rubin Hermann played a storming innings of 56 runs off 33 balls for the Royals and had an explosive partnership of 125 runs with Root. The Royals maintained their dominance with a strong 88-run partnership between Root and captain David Miller, easily achieving the target with two balls remaining.
Miller couldn’t hold this record for long, as his fellow cricketer Faf du Plessis also achieved this milestone. He needed 19 runs to reach 11,000 runs in T20 cricket. He played an innings of 61 runs. Du Plessis not only achieved the milestone of scoring 11,000 T20 runs but also became the 13th batsman to hit one thousand boundaries in cricket’s shortest format.
