South African veteran Faf du Plessis expressed his joy while playing for the Delhi Capitals and declared that he has a ‘Lots of Life’ left as a franchise player and said that his tenure with Delhi Capitals will be his last. Although he did not say anything about retiring soon, but said that Delhi Capitals would be the last franchisee he would play for in the IPL. If Delhi Capitals releases him in the upcoming season he is most likely to retire from IPL. He was acquired by the Delhi Capitals this season when RCB released him in the auction.

“New team, new challenge for me. I almost see it as a new chapter you can look forward to,” Du Plessis told commentator and former England player Graeme Swann after Delhi’s nail-biting win over Lucknow Super Giants.
“Moving from Chennai to RCB was a really good chapter. Now the last chapter of the book, for however long the pages may be, will be with the new team.” he added.
Du Plessis’ IPL Career
South African cricketer Faf du Plessis gained worldwide recognition during the 2011 and early stages of 2012 international matches that led to Chennai Super Kings offering him a contract worth INR 60 Lakhs in 2012 for IPL. His CSK tenure has represented steady performance together with practical cricketing skills which produced essential score runs during key moments.
Du Plessis became part of the Rising Pune Supergiants roster when Chennai Super Kings received their IPL suspension for the 2016 and 2017 seasons at a value of INR 4 crore. The Chennai Super Kings reacquired Faf Du Plessis in 2018 for INR 1.6 crores after he returned from the team suspension before employing his services up until 2021. He scored crucial batting performances while playing for the team during that period.
