Rohit Sharma’s association with the Mumbai Indians (MI) began in 2011 when the franchise acquired him for $2 million at the IPL auction. Prior to joining MI, he had represented the Deccan Chargers during the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
In 2013, Sharma assumed the captaincy role at Mumbai Indians, marking the beginning of a highly successful era for the team. Under his leadership, MI clinched five IPL titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020. His captaincy prowess was further highlighted when he guided the team to victory in the 2013 Champions League T20.

Runs In IPL
Throughout his IPL career, Sharma has established himself as one of the tournament’s most prolific batsmen. With an impressive tally of 6,472 runs, he stands as the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL history, joining an elite group of just four batsmen who have surpassed the 6,000-run milestone in the tournament.
One of his memorable moments came in 2015 when his match-winning performance earned him the Player of the Match award in the IPL final. His consistency and value to the franchise is evidenced by the fact that Mumbai Indians have retained him in every auction since his acquisition in 2011.
