In this regard, former BCCI president Anurag Thakur stated that the Indian team would not go to Pakistan to play in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Anurag Thakur Responds To Team India Plans
In a special program on News 24, former BCCI president Anurag Thakur responded to Vaibhav Bhola’s question by saying that Pakistan wants India to promote terrorism by playing cricket matches there, which cannot happen. He stated that although the decision ultimately lies with the BCCI, India should not go to Pakistan to participate in the tournament. He further stated that the Indian team would only go to Pakistan to play cricket matches or participate in ICC tournaments when Pakistan stops its terrorist activities. The BCCI president’s statement makes it clear that Team India will not go to Pakistan to play in the Champions Trophy 2025.
Pakistan’s Plea To ICC
It is worth noting that PCB was quite disappointed when the Indian team did not go to play matches in Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2023. Afterward, when the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy 2025 were given to Pakistan, India once again began to refuse to go to Pakistan. In this regard, the PCB complained to the ICC about the Indian team’s refusal to play matches in Pakistan. There was a lot of controversy surrounding this issue. Fans were also being asked whether India would participate in the Champions Trophy 2025 or not, but now the Sports Minister has clarified that Team India will not go to Pakistan.
