New Delhi: India bowler Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup and it has opened up the chances for other players to fit in the squad.
Earlier today, PTI announced that BCCI sources have confirmed Bumrah not playing in the World Cup. However, it has yet not be officially announced.
Bumrah ruled out of T20 World Cup
In the recent post from BCCI, it was announced that Jasprit Bumrah will not play 1st T20I against South Africa due to stress fracture. However, there was no confirmation about the further conditions. Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain in during India’s practice session on Tuesday.

A BCCI official, on conditions of anonymity, has said, “Bumrah is not going to play the World T20 for sure. He has a serious back condition. It’s a stress fracture and he could be out for a period of six months.”
Mohammad Shami can get a place in T20 World Cup squad
India bowler Mohammad Shami is on the verge of the getting included in the team as he was named in standby players. Jasprit Bumrah being ruled out of the tournament will definitely give Shami a chance to play his game. His skills are any way required in Australian conditions and he can serve as the perfect replacement of the pacer.
Jasprit Bumrah missed Asia Cup 2022
Jasprit Bumrah had earlier missed Asia Cup 2022 and the team had to face the burnt of it. Bumrah had returned to the field after recovering from an injury and played some games against Australia. He had complained of back pain during the practice session. After which he was dropped from the first T20 match at the behest of the medical team.
