Brisbane: Australia marked a stupendous win against Ireland on Monday and with that, they moved directly to the second position on the table.

Earlier, due to their game against England ending in no results had pushed then on fourth position but now they can keep their hopes alive for semis.

After the win of Australia, captain Aaron Finch stated his experience of playing against Ireland and said, “It wasn’t the easiest wicket, it was a lot slower than what we expected. Put to bat first, Australia had put 179 runs on board at the loss of 5 wickets. Aaron Finch started brilliantly as he went on to garner 63 runs for the team. He was supported by Marcus Stoinis’s 35 runs and Mitchell Marsh’s 28.

Barry MacCarthy had made it difficult for Australia to get easy runs as he took three wickets, removing top order for the side.

Ireland, in a ‘hard fought’ battle, tried their best to get the required runs but most their players failed to stand firm in front of Aussie’s attack. Lorcan Tucker single-handedly garnered 71 runs and then second highest scorer was Gareth Dockrell with just 14.
