Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra believes that the Rohit Sharma-led India team has lost confidence in Ravindra Jadeja’s abilities due to his poor performance in the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup. Jadeja, known for his all-round skills, has had a quiet tournament so far, failing to impress with both bat and ball. Notably, he did not bowl a single over in India’s crucial win over the USA on June 12. Chopra suggests that Rohit’s decision to not use Jadeja against a relatively strong USA batting lineup indicates a lack of confidence in him.
IPL bullies like Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja can take motivation from Clutch Hardik Pandya on how to perform in the T20 World Cup.

Ravindra Jadeja Out Of Favour For Team India?
“The biggest question is what is being done with Ravindra Jadeja. The captain didn’t get Jaddu to bowl even a single over. Even Shivam Dube was made to bowl, although he proved expensive in that over and it seems like he is not fully ready to bowl at this level,” Chopra said.
India secured their spot in the Super 8 of the T20 World Cup with one Group A match remaining, defeating the USA by 7 wickets on a challenging New York pitch on Wednesday. Arshdeep Singh’s exceptional 4/9 spell and Hardik Pandya’s 2/14 contributed to restricting the hosts to just 110 runs. Despite even Shivam Dube bowling an 11-run over, Jadeja did not bowl, despite his recent consistency with the ball in white-ball matches.
“However, not giving a single over to Jaddu and later not getting him to bat up the order, the confidence in Jaddu was seen lost suddenly. The guy needed to score a few runs and take a few wickets in any case because this tournament hasn’t gone well for him, he has a career strike rate of 125 with the bat, and you are slightly surprised if the captain doesn’t get you to bowl also,” Chopra added.
In a recent YouTube video, Chopra pointed out that India might be planning their T20 World Cup strategy with minimal reliance on Jadeja’s all-round abilities.
During India’s chase, Jadeja was not promoted up the order, with Suryakumar Yadav and Dube finishing the game instead. Jadeja has only bowled three overs in India’s three fixtures in the tournament so far, raising further questions about the team’s plans for the all-rounder.
