Following a check-up, the Indian captain resumed full-swing practice in the nets. The pitch at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, where India played their first match of the campaign against Ireland, has garnered attention for its uneven and slow outfield.

Notably, India began their campaign on a high at this venue, securing an 8-wicket victory over Ireland. The skipper scored 52 runs off 37 balls with a strike rate of 140.54 before his innings was cut short by an injury at the end of the 10th over.

Amid discussions about the pitch, the International Cricket Council issued a statement on Thursday acknowledging that the pitches used at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup have not been as consistent as expected. They assured that the groundsmen are working diligently to provide the “best possible surfaces” for the remaining games.

The stadium uses a drop-in pitch, prepared away from the venue and installed into the ground for the match.
