The interim captain of Australia for the Sri Lanka tour, Steve Smith has been declared fit to appear for the two test matches which is also known as Warne-Murlitharan Trophy. He was unfit as he hurt himself in the Big Bash League earlier this month in the elbow while throwing the ball. He was hurt during his stint with the Sydney Sixers.
“Steve Smith has undergone a specialist medical review today following his right elbow injury sustained during the Big Bash League. He has been cleared to rejoin the Test squad and travel to Dubai,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.

After concerns were raised about Steve Smith’s availability for the upcoming Champions Trophy due to his injury and absence from the Dubai preparatory camp, the national cricket board has confirmed he will resume batting this week to prepare for the tour. Australia’s upcoming two-Test series in Sri Lanka will conclude their current World Test Championship campaign. The team earned their spot in the final against South Africa following their decisive 3-1 victory over India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
