Paul Heyman Reveals He Never Took A Salary During His Seven-Year ECW Run
Prior to joining WWE, Paul Heyman owned ECW for a number of years. During this past veteran’s appearance on What’s Your Story? with Steph McMahon, the former WWE Women’s champion asked Paul if ECW wrestlers were loyal to him, since the promotion had clearly seen better days and was having financial difficulty paying them. The WWE Hall of Famer claimed that he did not take a dime for himself over the course of the seven and a half years he ran ECW, spending all he had, in an effort to keep the wrestling promotion alive.
“I think my saving grace always was, I didn’t loot the company. I wasn’t one of these promoters that took the money, stuffed it in my socks, and go, ‘Ohhh, there’s no money tonight.’ I went bankrupt, too. I spent whatever I had trying to save the company, too. I never paid myself for seven and a half years in ECW,” Heyman said.
