Ever since Nathan Bracken, the former Australian pacer, retired from cricket in 2011, he did things a bit different from many of his colleagues. While most of the retired cricketers suddenly found themselves punditing for either television or social media, Bracken has changed careers and is now working as an account manager in Kiar, New South Wales, Australia. During 2008, Bracken was ranked as the top ODI bowler by the ICC, so for a man who once possessed such heights, it came as a shock for many.

Political Foray and Rejection of IPL

Besides his corporate life, this 47-year-old once tried his luck in politics, too, by being a Liberal candidate for The Entrance electorate in the year 2023. Not only that, but Bracken also cancelled his participation in IPL after he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore, popularly known as RCB, for Rs 1.3 crore in the year 2011. Without being allured by the money power, Bracken did not participate and announced his retirement from cricket in the same year.

Sachin Tendulkar on Bracken’s Bowling

In a 2018 chat, Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar said that his former teammate Virender Sehwag was uncomfortable facing Bracken. This speaks volumes of the respect he commanded among some of the game’s most stringent customers.

Legal Battle with Cricket Australia

In Bracken’s post-cricket life was also a legal fight against Cricket Australia for which in the year 2012, he filed a lawsuit against the organisation and three medical officers accusing them of failing to properly diagnose and treat his right knee injury in 2007. He took the case to the Supreme Court. Now, the Supreme Court has ordered Bracken to spell out the damages he is claiming from CA and to provide further particulars of his injuries.

A Shift Towards BJP's Aggressive Hindutva Amid Opposition's Leadership Crisis

The Maharashtra election may further push the Congress down as it has lost the election at a time when it needed a win most desperately. Though the Congress succeeded in pushing the BJP to a corner and stopping it at less than a majority on its own, it failed to make any headway further.
