The Australian wicket-keeper batter Alex Carey has become the only batter from his country to breach the 150 run mark on the Asian soil. Earlier this record was attached in the name of Australian veteran Adam Gilchrist. He had a score of 144 runs in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. This milestone was achieved by Carey during the first Australian innings against Sri Lanka at Galle in the 2nd Test match against Sri Lanka.

This feat is also special for Carey because he had never accomplished such a milestone in first class cricket. He reached the 150 runs mark by sweeping a delivery from Prabhat Jayasuriya in the 87th over. However, in the 93rd over his innings came to an end when Prabhat himself dismissed him for 156 runs which included 15 fours and 2 sixes. During the first innings of Australia, they built up a total of 330/3 at the end of day two, managing to give them a lead of 73 runs over Sri Lanka whose inning score wrapped up at 257.
