Teeger addressed the audience at that time, stating, "Yes, I've been given this award, and yes, I'm now the rising star, but the true rising stars are the young soldiers in Israel. And I'd like to dedicate it to the state of Israel and every single soldier fighting so that we can live and thrive in the diaspora."
The South African-based Palestine Solidarity Alliance (PSA) did not respond positively to these remarks, leading them to officially file a complaint with Cricket South Africa (CSA) in November.
On December 7, CSA issued another statement, confirming that Teeger had been cleared after an investigation determined that the player did not violate the CSA's code of conduct with his pro-Israeli army comments.
