The India women’s national cricket team achieved a 60-run victory over West Indies in the third T20I of the three-match series played at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. The Indian women’s team achieved a first innings score 217/4 while batting first wherein skipper Smriti Mandhana ended up playing an innings of 77 runs from 47 balls whereas Richa Ghosh smashed 54 runs from 21 balls. The Indian women’s team also registered a 2-1 win in the three-match T20I series. Mandhana was named Player of the Series whereas Ghosh won the Player of the Match award.

Smriti Mandhana Breaks Mithali Raj Record
Smriti Mandhana also broke former Indian captain Mithali Raj’s stellar record. Mandhana smashed 193 runs in the three-match series against West Indies. Smriti scored the highest runs by any Indian women batter after February 2018 and registered the record of most runs by an Indian batter during any women T20I bilateral series. Mithali Raj held the previous record, who amassed 192 runs from five matches against South Africa.

The India women’s national cricket wasn’t off to a decent start wherein they lost opener Uma Chetry for a duck. However, Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues added 98 runs for the second wicket as Rodrigues played an innings of 39 runs from 28 balls followed by a 31-run knock from Raghvi Bist. Ghosh smashed a blistering quick fire half century, guiding the hosts to a big first innings score. On the other hand, chasing down the target West Indies never got going and lost wickets at regular intervals which made them lose the match by a margin of 60 runs.
