Sri Lanka are set to host New Zealand for the first of two Tests, which begins on this Wednesday at Galle. Dhananjaya de Silva-led side will head into the game following a 1-2 defeat in their recently concluded three-match Test series against England. It recently toured India to play Afghanistan in a one-off Test, but that match was abandoned without any play at the Greater Noida stadium due to a wet outfield and persistent rain.
The Test is very significant as both the teams will be looking forward to book their spot in the World Test Championship (WTC) final which will be held in June 2025 at the home of cricket that’s the Lords.
