India’s young batting sensation Shubman Gill has attached his name to another milestone by paralleling the most ‘Player of the Match’ award since 2022 with India’s batting Maestro Virat Kohli. Both Gill and Kohli have secured 5 POTM in their respective names. Gill played an impressive innings of 87 runs in 96 balls, including 14 boundaries. He was awarded the player of the match for the first ODI Between India and England at Vidarbha cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur.

Next Virat Kohli?
Some people call him India’s new batting sensation and some regard him as the next Virat Kohli but what really catches an eye is Gill has just started his cricketing career and he is at the pinnacle of success. The young batter has many achievements to accomplish in the future. Though he was not able to perform well in the border of trophy, but his performance in the ODI series against England and the Champions Trophy is much anticipated. He was playing a beautiful innings but was caught by Jos Buttler, the English captain out in the field. India won the match by four wickets with Gill claiming the player of the match award. England bat first and was all out in the 47th over at 248 runs. In response, India made 251 runs for six wickets and ended the match in the 38th over itself.

International Debut
In ODI cricket, Gill is the fastest player to reach 2000 runs in 38 innings and also holds the record for a double century in ODI as the youngest cricketer. Gill was also the vice captain of India under 19 team during the 2018 U-19 cricket World Cup where Gill scored 372 runs at an average of 124. He made his international debut on 31 January 2019 against New Zealand at Siddmon Park in Hamilton. Gill made his test debut on 26 December 2020 in the Border Gavaskar trophy where in the fourth test match at Gabba he scored 91 runs of 146 balls playing a crucial role in India series win. Gill made his T20 debut on 3 January 2023 against Sri Lanka
