India‘s captain for the ongoing Zimbabwe tour, Shubman Gill, is facing criticism from fans for demoting Abhishek Sharma to number three in the third T20I of the series on Wednesday, July 10, at Harare Sports Club. After winning the toss, Gill chose to bat first, and India made four changes to their playing XI.

Shubman Gill Slammed By Fans On Internet

World Cup winners Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, and Sanju Samson rejoined the team, while Sai Sudharsan, Riyan Parag, and Dhruv Jurel were dropped. Surprisingly, Gill demoted last match’s centurion Abhishek Sharma and opened the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Fans were unhappy with Gill’s decision, criticizing the young captain for the unexpected move. Gill scored 66 off 49 balls, hitting seven fours and three sixes as an opener. However, Abhishek struggled at number three, coming in to bat in the ninth over and scoring only 10 runs off 9 balls.

Previously, Abhishek had scored a stunning 46-ball hundred in just his second T20I during the second game of the series, recording the third joint-fastest century by an Indian batter in the format, with seven fours and eight massive sixes.
