New Delhi: India’s middle over mainstays Shreyas Iyer has completed his surgery in London, United Kingdom on Tuesday. He is set to return in cricketing action for the One Day International (ODI) World Cup 2023 in India scheduled to take place during October-November this year.
Iyer set to miss WTC final
Shreyas Iyer, who was ruled out of the action after he suffered back injury during Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023 against Australia. The injury forced him out of the series after playing just 2 days of the fourth Test vs Australia. This injury forced him to miss the entirety of the ongoing IPL 2023, and also the World Test Championship (WTC) Final.
As per the media report, Iyer would need a minimum of 3 months to recover from the surgery and regain full fitness.

Shreyas Iyer performance in all format
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) also suffered huge blow and named Nitish Rana as their interim skipper in place of injured Iyer. Across all format, Iyer scored 1609 runs and he is one of the most trustable batter at the no.4 for India.
WTC Final 2023
The ICC World Test Championship: From June 7 to June 11, 2023, the Oval in London will host the second WTC Final between Australia and India. Australia’s 17-person squad, led by Pat Cummins, has been announced.
