Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan turned 39 on December 5 and received wishes from his loved and his fellow Indian cricketers. Dhawan was a gem of a cricketer during his playing days wherein the latter smashed a hundred on his Test debut and setup a new standard of cover drive. The former left-handed batter used to charge down the wicket against fast bowlers and smack them towards the off-side with ease. Dhawan, who retired from international cricket earlier this year, emerged as the standout performer for the Indian team in the ICC tournaments such as ICC Champions Trophy and the ODI World Cup.

Why Was Shikhar Dhawan Known As ‘Mr. ICC’?
Former Indian batter Shikhar Dhawan delivered one of his best performances in the ICC events. Dhawan played his first ICC event in the form of Champions Trophy 2013 wherein he smashed 363 runs and was also adjudged the ‘Player of the Tournament’. Dhawan ended up scoring 412 runs during the 2015 ODI World Cup and emerged as Team India’s leading run-scorer throughout the competition. After the 2015 ODI World Cup, Dhawan showcased his grace in the 2017 Champions Trophy as well wherein he hit 338 runs. Dhawan got injured in the middle of 2019 ODI World Cup but had hit a century against Australia.

Shikhar Dhawan had a magnificent international career, however, the latter couldn’t make it into the side in the past few years. The former Indian left-handed batter didn’t perform well with the bat due to which he was excluded from the team and with the rising competition, the latter thought to retire from international cricket. Shikhar Dhawan recently played in the Legends League Cricket tournament earlier this year.
