Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan offered prayers at the sacred Shri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on Sunday, taking part in the spiritually revered Bhasma Aarti ceremony. His presence at the temple attracted attention and admiration from fellow devotees.
Arriving in the early hours of the morning, Dhawan was dressed in traditional Bhagva Vastra (saffron attire) as he joined worshippers in the ancient temple ritual. The Bhasma Aarti, performed during the pre-dawn hours, is one of the most powerful and mystical ceremonies in Shaivite tradition, involving the offering of sacred ash to Lord Mahakal.

“I felt very good, I enjoyed it a lot. The energy from the Mahakal Aarti is truly absorbing. This is my second visit to the Mahakaleshwar temple. Blessings from Baba Mahakal are essential – not just for me but for the whole world.”

During the ceremony, Dhawan sat in the Nandi Hall, where he observed the ritual in a calm, prayerful state. After the Aarti concluded, he proceeded for darshan, continuing his spiritual immersion in the temple’s serene atmosphere.
