Shaheen Afridi’s Attack On Australia! Accuses Them Of Speed-Gun Tampering

Shaheen Afridi, the captain of Pakistan’s T20I team, has made a noteworthy statement regarding the speed measuring devices in Australia. He mentioned that they were surprised by their inability to register speeds exceeding 130 kph. Pakistan faced a 3-0 defeat in a three-match Test series during their tour of Australia.

After the Australian tour, the Pakistan cricket team arrived in New Zealand for a five-match T20I series against the Kiwis. Shaheen Afridi, who took over the white-ball captaincy from Babar Azam due to a subpar performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup, will be leading the Pakistan team in this series.

Criticism was directed at the Pakistan pace bowling unit for delivering slower-than-usual speeds on pitches known for favoring pace in Australia. In the first two Tests, Shaheen Afridi secured eight wickets with an average of 41.63. He was rested for the final match of the series.

“To be honest, we were ourselves looking at the speed o’ meters and wondering, is this really us? Because we were unable to understand that despite putting in all the effort, the speeds were not going up. Seeing 130-132 kph was disheartening and we thought this was pre-decided that we won’t go above 130 kph,” said Shaheen.

Pakistan’s Tour Of New Zealand

Discussing the upcoming series against New Zealand, Shaheen Afridi expressed pride in captaining Pakistan and acknowledged New Zealand as one of the top teams globally. The first T20I between the two teams is scheduled to take place at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday, January 12th.

“It’s very exciting challenge and proud moment for me to represent Pakistan. Not easy, first time captaincy, new challenge and in New Zealand. We have a very good track record against New Zealand but they are one of the best teams in the world so we’ll try to do our best,” Shaheen added.
