Setback for Australia! Alyssa Healy Ruled Out of England Clash at Women’s World Cup 2025

While the injury is not serious, Healy will be closely monitored in the coming days and her availability for Australia’s final group-stage match against South Africa on October 25 remains uncertain.

Australia have been hit with a key injury concern at the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. Star batter and captain Alyssa Healy has been ruled out of the crucial match against England on Wednesday after suffering a minor calf strain during a training session last Saturday.

In her absence, Tahlia McGrath will take over as captain for the England game.

Healy’s Stellar Form at the World Cup

Healy’s absence is a big loss considering her brilliant form in the tournament so far. She is Australia’s top scorer at the World Cup with 294 runs from 4 matches, according to the ICC.

  • She hit a stunning 142 off 107 balls against India, marking her first century as captain and helping Australia complete the highest successful chase in women’s ODI history.
  • She followed it up with another unbeaten knock – 113 against Bangladesh*, as Australia cruised to a 10-wicket win.

Comeback and Leadership

Healy’s performance has been all the more impressive given her recent comeback from injury. After months of rehab, she returned to action in August, playing six white-ball matches for Australia A against India A before being named in the World Cup squad.

Despite this injury setback, Australia are already through to the semi-finals, which gives Healy some breathing room to recover fully for the knockouts.

Fans will be hoping the Aussie skipper is fit and ready for the business end of the tournament.
