Tactical Adjustments Lecce Could Have Made To Challenge Juventus More Effectively
A better chance against Juventus would have been possible for Lecce through sustained defensive pressure in the early stages of the match and by compacting their defensive structure. Lecce’s substitutions were made after the game progressed rather than before it started and the offensive assets including Krstović were taken off the pitch prematurely. Adopting an intensified midfield pressure against Juve could have broken their build-up structure by particularly targeting Vlahović who delivered both assists. They could have succeeded by keeping their wide positions to exploit the high defensive approach of Juventus. The earlier introduction of Helgason by Lecce would have provided their team with additional creative attacks in the attacking phase.
