SRH vs RR: Former Australian cricketer Tom Moody believes that Rajasthan Royals (RR) will heavily rely on their captain Sanju Samson to deliver a strong batting performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their Qualifier 2 match on May 24 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Moody discussed the anticipated clash between SRH captain Pat Cummins and Samson, highlighting the opportunity for the RR skipper to make a significant impact with the bat.
RR need a Sanju Samson masterclass vs SRH
“If you get that match up, it is nothing like it. One of the best bowlers in the world against one of the emerging stars in India in Sanju Samson, who is trying to break through that Indian side and get a consistent game,” Moody said.
“This is the type of game where you want Samson to score big runs because these games will stand up as “right the guy is ready for an extended run at the top because he can score good runs,”. Moody added.
Samson has been a pivotal player in the RR batting lineup, often playing crucial innings throughout the IPL 2024 season. Despite his recent modest performance of 17 runs off 13 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eliminator, the 29-year-old has amassed a total of 521 runs in 15 matches this season. Praised for his leadership skills, Samson’s form will be crucial for RR against SRH, especially considering Cummins’ impressive performances as captain for SRH.
Alongside players like Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who have shown good form recently, the SRH bowlers will face a challenging task against RR’s balanced batting lineup. With these factors in mind, the strategies employed by Cummins and the SRH bowling unit against RR’s batting order will be intriguing to observe during the upcoming match.
