RR vs MI: Match 38 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) witnessed league leaders Rajasthan Royals host Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 22. Newly appointed MI skipper Hardik Pandya would be hoping that he gets a win in what is the all-rounder’s 100th match for the Mumbai Indians.

Tilak-Nehal Help MI Post 179/9
Deciding to bat first, MI openers couldn’t give the visitors a good start as Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan both got sent back to the pavilion for a collective total of just 6 runs. With Trent Boult taking the wicket of Rohit Sharma in the trademark first over, Ishan Kishan also went for a duck in the next over courtesy of a Sandeep Sharma delivery.
It was Tilak Varma’s gritty fifty that took Mumbai to a respectable total in the end at the time when other batters were struggling to give the visitors some momentum on the night.

Tilak Varma’s innings were also supported by Nehal Wadhera’s 23-ball 49. Their 99-run 5th wicket partnership surprisingly powered Mumbai to a respectable 179/9 in their 20 overs in the end.
Yuzvendra Chahal also came in to bowl and reached a historic landmark in his first over. Chahal is now the first-ever Indian to reach 200 wickets in the IPL.
Sandeep Sharma finished with 5 wickets on his return while Trent Boult finished his spell with 2 wickets as Mumbai failed to take advantage of the momentum by Tilak and Nehal in the middle. With Sandeep Sharma back in the ranks for the league leaders, Rajasthan is looking like the prime contender for this year’s title as well.
