Babar Azam is one of the top Pakistani batters in modern-day cricket. Babar has achieved a lot of milestones in a short span of international cricket however, in the present time the latter has lost his touch with the bat. Babar has not been able to score runs against quality attacks and is only seen scoring centuries against low-ranked teams. Babar was also dropped from the Test squad during the Pakistan vs England Test series. He is currently playing for Pakistan in the first Test against South Africa and broke a drought of two years by scoring a half-century.

Babar Azam Scores First Test Half-Century After 2 Years
Babar Azam last scored a Test half-century against New Zealand in 2022 and ended up playing an innings of 50 runs from 85 balls which included nine fours. Babar resumed his overnight score of 16 runs after the play was halted due to rain on Day 3 of the SA vs PAK 1st Test. Babar added 79 runs for the fourth wicket along with Saud Shakeel. Pakistan also crossed the 150-run mark due to the help of the partnership and gain a lead of 63 runs.

Babar Azam was dismissed by Marco Jansen and got caught by Corbin Bosch. After his wicket, Pakistan suffered a batting collapse and lost four wickets in a gap of just 72 runs. Saud Shakeel played a knock of 84 runs and was the top run scorer of the innings. Chasing down a target in the fourth innings willn’t be easy for the Proteas as Pakistan showcased a brilliant bowling effort in the first innings.
