The Delhi Capitals batters posted 188/5 runs during their first batting turn which proved competitive. In their opening batting performance Abhishek Porel scored 49 runs from just 37 balls and KL Rahul accumulated 38 runs from his 32-ball innings. The death overs of the innings became a highlight because captain Axar Patel hammered 34 runs from 14 balls while Tristan Stubbs remained not out with 34 runs from 18 balls. The 23-run over from Sandeep Sharma during the last over of the match became an expensive mistake for Rajasthan because it brought Delhi’s total dangerously close to 190.

During their chase, Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 61 runs together in the opening powerplay. Samson’s strike force encountered misfortune when he injured his rib during the sixth over after hitting two boundaries and a six. When Riyan Parag left early, it became crucial for Rajasthan’s batting lineup because Jaiswal partnered with Nitish Rana to keep the match alive.
The required run rate exceeded 73 runs during the final six overs of play because Delhi spinning bowlers gained control over the surface. The batting team responded with major hitting until Mitchell Starc produced a game-shifting delivery to remove Rana with an elegant inswinging yorker.
Starc used his expertise to deliver successive yorkers which brought Rajasthan to just 188/4 and gave rise to a Super Over scenario.
The first three balls of the Super Over began with two boundary hits for Rajasthan Royals. The match took a turn for the worst for Rajasthan as their pair of batters became victims of run-out when Parag and Jaiswal were dismissed. This resulted in their team scoring 11/2. The hunting of 12 runs for victory became possible for Delhi when Stubbs and Rahul handled Sandeep Sharma’s excessively foreseeable slower deliveries that entered the pitch too often.
