Rohit Sharma announced his retirement during the press conference following India’s 7-run victory over South Africa in the tournament final. Sharma joined Virat Kohli in retiring from the T20I format. The India captain expressed gratitude for winning the trophy and felt it was fitting to conclude his career with an ICC World Cup victory, as he had begun his career by winning the T20 World Cup in 2007.
