As Team India continues its dominating run in the Asia Cup 2025, two of its senior-most cricketers – Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were recently spotted putting in the hard yards at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru. With the Men in Blue set to tour Australia later this year, both players are leaving no stone unturned in their preparations.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released an exclusive behind-the-scenes video, showing the veteran batters immersed in intense training sessions focused on both fitness and technical refinement. The clip highlights the duo working with top fitness experts on cricket-specific strength, mobility, and agility drills at the state-of-the-art CoE facility.
Following the fitness regime, both players moved to the nets. In a clear indication of format-specific preparation, KL Rahul was seen facing the red ball, sharpening his technique for longer formats, while Rohit Sharma focused on white-ball batting, likely preparing for the upcoming limited-overs assignments.

Rohit Sharma Eyes ODI Return, KL Rahul Reinforces Test Commitment
At 38, Rohit Sharma has already transitioned out of two formats. The former India captain announced his T20I retirement after lifting the 2024 T20 World Cup, and stepped away from Test cricket before India’s red-ball tour of England in 2025. However, the upcoming ODI series in Australia could mark his much-anticipated return to international cricket.
KL Rahul, on the other hand, remains a key figure in India’s ODI and Test squads. While he hasn’t featured in a T20I since November 2022 – due to inconsistent form and rising competition, his recent performances in ODIs and Tests have kept him in the selectors’ plans. Rahul played a crucial role in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, where India drew 2-2 against England under Shubman Gill’s captaincy.
India vs Australia Tour on the Horizon
India’s upcoming tour of Australia will feature three ODIs and five T20Is, and both Rohit and Rahul are likely to be named in the squads, albeit for different roles. While Rohit’s experience in Australian conditions – most notably in India’s Champions Trophy title win could prove invaluable, Rahul’s versatility in the middle order makes him a strong asset in both formats.
India Cruise Through Asia Cup 2025
Back in the UAE, India have been flawless in the Asia Cup 2025, winning all their group-stage matches. Led by Suryakumar Yadav, the Men in Blue are set for a blockbuster clash against Pakistan in the Super Four stage at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 21. The team’s strong form and squad depth suggest a serious push for the title as they continue their preparation for bigger challenges ahead.
