Rohit Sharma Guided Team IND To 205/5 vs AUS
The Indian skipper was in fine form and began playing aggressively right from the start after Mitchell Marsh won the toss and chose to field.
Although Virat Kohli, struggling for form, was dismissed for a duck early on by Josh Hazlewood, Rohit Sharma responded fiercely, hammering Mitchell Starc for a massive 29 runs in the 3rd over. His explosive innings saw him reach his half-century in just 19 balls, the fastest fifty of the tournament so far.
However, the much-anticipated moment for Indian fans didn’t come as Rohit Sharma fell just 8 runs short of his 6th T20 international century, getting out to Mitchell Starc.
Shivam Dube and Suryakumar Yadav carried on with a brilliant 32-run partnership that built on their skipper’s explosive start.
Suryakumar Yadav made a solid 31, while Shivam Dube continued his good form with a 22-ball 28 for the Men in Blue.
Hardik Pandya also made a significant contribution with his batting as his crucial late cameo added to India’s impressive total.
India was clearly in the mood to dominate, posting a massive total of 205/5 in their 20 overs against Australia.
Team India Complete Their Revenge vs Australia
Chasing a mammoth 206 on the day, it was the Indians who got the first breakthrough of the 2nd innings, dismissing opener David Warner cheaply on just 5 runs. However, it was Team India’s nemesis Travis Head who once again took control of the game.
Head’s blazing 43-ball 76 scared the fans of another disappointing defeat on the day. However, wickets at regular intervals slowed down the run rate and added pressure on the Aussies.
It was the bowlers who starred yet again for the Men in Blue as Arshdeep Singh led with 3 wickets on the day, followed by Kuldeep Yadav who got two to his name.
Team India restricted Australia to 181/7 on the night as they handed their rivals a nervous ending to the Super 8 stage as their fate now rests on Afghanistan who play Bangladesh tomorrow.
